Ice Skaters, Triple Salchow
April, 2022
While in intercessory prayer on a Wednesday morning in January, 2022, I felt as if God gave me a word for the church. He showed me a picture of an ice skater completing a jump, gave me the word "triple salchow," and the following . . .
"Do you trust Me? Do you trust Me? You are entering a triple salchow moment. You will take off from the back edge of the skate and land on the back edge of the skate. Can you enter into the move backwards and land backwards and trust that I still have you going in the right direction? Can you twirl through the air with Me and trust that you will not be disoriented? Welcome to a triple salchow moment."
I told the Lord I would paint that and intercede for people in the church. Little did I know that weeks later, our family would find ourselves in this moment for several months. I wondered if I had gotten the word wrong . . . maybe it a word for us and I misinterpreted that it was for the church. But then God would have me release that word to others as He directed, and they would tell me that this was exactly what it felt like and that the word was for them, too. God also reminded me that sometimes He walks us through things in order to better intercede and pray for others when they walk through it . . . armed with a new testimony of trust.
This is also where the additional pictures of the ice skaters expressing emotions came to fruition as I painted what we were walking out as a family.
Blue, skating backwards, entering into the moment - The yielding and offering up to the Lord ... The hands open to receiving what He is doing and release your expectations ... the realization that you cannot see what is coming next and the plans that you thought were in place are now changed
White, the jump and the spinning, riding the roller coaster moments without getting disoriented - Continuing to praise Him and declaring your love and trust ... the awkwardness and surrender of the moment where you realize you are willing to let all of where you are now go, as long as He stays with you … the deeper work He is doing in your heart to trust Him even more.
Red, landing the jump backwards and trusting that this is the path He has placed you on, even though it looks different than what you thought He had planned - Praise and victory in Him, the joy of watching Him work ... declaring His victory and testifying of His goodness … knowing God works all things for your good and that He loves you.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
I hope that this blesses anyone who feels as if they are going through their own triple salchow moment. May the church be armed with beautiful testimonies of trust in God's goodness.
